Supporting the UK Nuclear Fusion Energy Programme

Milton Keynes & Stockholm

TECHNIA, the #1 knowledge leader in virtual twin solutions and digital engineering, today announced that UKIFS has selected TECHNIA to deliver comprehensive support services for its 3DEXPERIENCE-based engineering environment, ensuring continuity during a critical phase of the programme’s design development. The scope includes helpdesk services, liaison with Dassault Systèmes, platform administration, user training, and business support.

As the UK advances its national fusion strategy and establishes UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd (UKIFS), through its STEP Fusion Programme as a central systems integrator, the focus is shifting from research to industrial-scale delivery. This transition demands high-fidelity simulation, full digital continuity, and seamless collaboration across a complex and highly specialised supply chain.

Together with Dassault Systèmes, TECHNIA enables a virtual twin approach, connecting design, simulation, and manufacturing in a unified environment. This ensures traceability, reduces programme risk, and accelerates innovation, which is critical for delivering fusion at scale.

TECHNIA’s capabilities have already been demonstrated in nuclear and large-scale scientific infrastructure, directly aligned with the demands of UKIFS. Through our work on Reactor Containment Structures, TECHNIA enabled advanced simulation of concrete behaviour under extreme conditions, supporting safety-critical validation for Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant. TECHNIA also delivered 3D Modeling and PLM Solutions and Advanced Seismic Analysis for the European Spallation Source, ensuring structural integrity and compliance for one of the world’s most complex research facilities. These projects highlight the combined strength of TECHNIA teams’ vast experience in delivering simulation-led engineering, integrating multidisciplinary data, and supporting mission-critical decision-making.

“Currently, fusion technology represents one of the very complex engineering challenges, requiring the integration of advanced simulation, rigorous validation, and seamless collaboration across a highly specialised ecosystem.”
Magnus Falkman, CEO | TECHNIA.

“Our goal is to enable organisations to work with a true virtual twin, connecting people, data, and processes to accelerate delivery and reduce complexity. This is exactly what’s needed to turn fusion ambition into industrial reality.”
Mike Hurst, Managing Director | TECHNIA UK & NAM

As nuclear fusion moves toward commercialisation, success will depend on the ability to connect a diverse ecosystem of partners through secure, standardised, and scalable digital environments. TECHNIA, in partnership with Dassault Systèmes, enables organisations across the fusion value chain to collaborate effectively, manage complexity, and accelerate delivery, helping transform the UK’s fusion ambition into a viable, industrial reality.
